Check out this The North Face Escape & Evade pack (that’s what I call it anyway). I pulled this pack out after having a chat with the folks at Malaysian custom pack maker Garrison Packs. We we talking about pack designs, copies and pack concepts. I am not for 1 to 1 copy but adopting concepts I am fine with. Here is an example of what I think would be a shared concept.
I finally received the custom made knife pouch from Garrison Packs for my old Carl Schleiper knife. Together with this knife, I would usually carry a Fallkniven DC4 sharpener. Knife was given to me some time back while the DC4 I purchased from OGM. This combination isn’t really my EDC but they have been my constant travelling companion, especially to places that would not welcome the Benchmade Triage.
I was really intrigued with the EDC kydex wallet by 362 Custom Kydex after seeing pictures as posted by Wak. I placed an order for a unit a few weeks ago when I was overseas. Upon my return, a Poslaju package was already waiting on my desk. Here are some pictures of my new EDC wallet in kydex made by 362 Custom Kydex.
Fadzrill Omar’s District U5 EDC Gear offering of knife and titanium anodizing services has certainly stepped up the ante in the Malaysian knife and EDC gear gadget scene. Fadz’s workshop is located in Shah Alam, Selangor and shares the same roof with knife maker Fursan Blades. I recently visited their bungalow workshop for a quick tour.
Making kydex sheaths for knives is really an art on its own. A well made kydex sheath keeps the blade safe for use and is almost maintenance free (as oppose to leather or wood sheaths). I have personally tried to make kydex sheaths for my own knives and Malaysian made parangs but soon to realize some things are best left to the experts. Peter of 362 Custom Kydex is one of the very few people I know in Malaysia that actually makes excellent kydex molded products. Here are some pictures I took of his latest custom made kydex sheaths.
The straight jacket compression system on this Osprey Eclipse 26+5 pack is really awesome. After a continuous use for over two weeks, I realized the pack’s compression system isn’t like any other pack I have ever used. Here’s a closer look.
I got this incomplete, used but in almost new condition Osprey Eclipse 26+5 pack as a hand me down from a friend. Osprey packs have always fascinated me with their design and functionality. I used to own several Osprey packs in the past and this Eclipse model is certainly one of the older generation models. The material, build and design of the pack certainly brings back memory.
This is a classic, made in the USA Mountainsmith World Cup pack I bought some years back. I believe this is one of the few packs that were made by Mountainsmith when Patrick Smith was still the owner. I love the shape of the pack and there are some areas on the pack that I think is note worthy. I have carried this pack for some time in the past but have of course moved on to others.
