Explorer Outfitter is another local Malaysian outdoor gear retailer. They have been around for several years now but I never did have the chance (nor took the effort actually) to visit any of their stores. Rumours and whispers about this outdoor gear retailer has been mixed from the very beginning. Some say it has a lot of variety while others think the quality is crap. When a friend told me a new outlet is opening up in Damen USJ (near to me), I decided to check it out myself.
There are several places where you can buy camping hammock in KL. Online selling sites like Mudah and Lelong has much to offer, though some may not be suitable at all for jungle camping because of the size, design and especially weight. The gem hammock I found recently was at Decathlon, a sporting gear retailer I am loving more and more. Decathlon stores are located at Sri Damansara and USJ (beside Summit USJ).
Some months back, I heard there will be a new Mora knife distributor in Malaysia. I had mixed feelings about it. Distribution of any sort of outdoor adventure gear in Malaysia has never been in favor of end user because of the multi-tiered profiteering by the distributor and re-sellers. And now it looks like Mora knives in Malaysia will suffer the same fate.
Decathlon at Bandar Sri Damansara is probably the best sportswear store in Klang Valley to date. I visited them recently and found them to be right on the mark for their reputation. Decathlon offers a good range of products for almost all kinds of sports imaginable (that includes diving, horse riding, hunting & some golf). Best part of all, there are heaps of stuff (cheap too) that would be great for preppers in Malaysia.
Someone asked me recently where to buy every day carry- EDC torch lights in Malaysia. Torch light in my opinion is one of the most important EDC, prepper, survival and self defense tool there is. In almost any imaginable survival scenario, day will turn into night and being able to see in the dark puts you in a better advantage to survive. Having said that, not all torches are created equal (as with cars, packs, knives etc). So, if you wanna receive good and reliable advise on what torches to buy, you may want to check out my ‘go to guy’ for torches, Mr Dannie Chua of Radiant Den.
B2-5-1, Kompleks Space U8,
No.6 Persiaran Pasak Bumi,
Taman Bukit Jelutong,
Seksyen U8, 40150 Shah Alam,

Malaysia only knife enthusiast shop, OGM is finally moving away from SS15 Subang Jaya! I dropped by their shop after meeting knife maker Fursan Blade and was allowed a brief ‘sneak peak’ on the works that’s going on in the old shop. This move to me personally is timely for OGM. Here are some reasons why I think OGM should move.
