If it is all down to a choosing an Everyday Carry (EDC) folding knife, then I would have to go with the Benchmade Triage. For someone who spends 90% of his time in the city, I can’t think of anything else that delivers the functionality and practicality of the Triage. To me, it is a purposed driven folding knife that offers capabilities that suits a city dweller.
To Every Day Carry (EDC) a knife in Malaysia can be tricky. I asked friends, local shops and even a police chap about this and their advice is always the same, ‘avoid’ it…just to be on a safe side. I have gotten away from the hands of law a few times here but I am not going to push my luck too far. So…a compromise on an EDC knife VS the local law is a Leatherman multi tool.
I read about snatch theft cases quite often in local Malaysian papers, hence it is only logical that I prepare myself to respond to the intrusion accordingly. The most common victims (many were fatal cases) are pedestrians. But because I drive to work daily, I have decided to keep my screw driver within my reach. It helps that my work requires me to carry tools but if someone smashes my passenger windscreen while I am in the car, I will not hesitate to use it.
