My old Tactical Tailor pouch

Wow…I never thought I was still keeping this US Army issued Tactical Tailor pouch. I got it from a friend many years ago who was serving the in the army. It has probably accompanied him on a few deployments. I was going through my stash of pouches to look for an EDC-able unit for my bits. Of all the pouches in the stash, this probably comes the closest to what I need.

All this while, I carry my daily bits in a sling pouch. Yup…its a man’s handbag so to speak. The other day, as I was walking, a bike passed me so fast and the pillion rider’s hand smack onto my side. I was thinking to myself, if that was a snatch thief, I would have potentially lost everything. So, I decided that perhaps it is timely that I look for a new way to carry my daily bits. A small pouch, probably about 20% the size of my current sling bag would do the job. And it has to be directly attached to my body as well. Its probably more secure that way. If the snatch thief wanna take the pouch, he would have to take me along as well.

Upon opening the pouch, I noticed the pouch did have some contents. A US army issued Benchmade strap cutter and a CAT tourniquet. I don think I want to carry the strap cutter. May as well just carry the Benchmade Triage for that purpose. The tourniquet I think is equally useless for my city dwelling lifestyle. I will let the medics and responders attend to any dangerous bleeding.

The pouch is large for its size I reckon. A closer look on the inside shows something interesting. A black plastic like lining. I wonder what it is for. There are bungees straps on the inside, probably to keep specific military related items in place. Its a deep pouch and it lacks internal pockets that I think I would need very much to help with gear organisation.

I am gonna try out this pouch for a couple of days. The Malice Clip on the back of the pouch would definitelly make attaching to my belt easier and securely. The Malice clips is one hell of a good design for molle compatible stuff.

Side carry on the waist, a bit bigger than what I would have prefered but gonna give it a try nevertheless. At least the pouch and its contents are now securely attached to me. You would have to pry it out of me to get it. To which I will happily fight you for. Tactical Tailor pouch…don’t fail me.
